Google Confirms - Mobile Site Now A Necessity!

Google in June confirmed what they had only hinted at before. Google, in some cases, will reduce your site's rankings, or even remove it from the search results when searchers are using a mobile device, AND you haven't delivered an optimized mobile site for them.

I've been encouraging our clients and prospects to deliver mobile optimized versions of their sites for the past couple of years. I'm hoping now with Google's announcement our recommendations will be heard.

Specifically Google wants to avoid bad redirects and smartphone only errors. They also warn about the use of Flash that while it works fine on a desktop, does not function at all on iOS and Android 4.x devices (think iPhone's, iPad's and Android phones and tablets).

Google has also clearly stated that they have a preference for responsive design sites that deliver the same content to both desktop and mobile visitors. Good news for BANG! clients as that is also are preferred way to present a mobile optimized site. Two examples include www.cespm.info and www.HoosierSpring.com. Both have nice clean designs viewed across any device.
